Workshop with Ian Mitton II

Ian Mitton
The Centre for Creative Practices
10th July, 9:00 am - 11th July, 5:00 pm

Add creativity to your practice with traditional photographic methods

The workshop is an investigation into the expressive possibilities of the Cyanotype and Van Dyke. These processes involve an iron-based chemical formula that creates a light sensitive emulsion. This emulsion is then painted onto art paper and exposed by placing a negative on the emulsion and making a contact print with a UV light source. This workshop will cover and demonstrate the techniques and procedures for making these aptly named blue-toned and brown toned prints. Different chemistry formulas, emulsions, coating methods and paper choices will be discussed. Students should be prepared to make their own digital inkjet negatives from photographic files.

In this workshop participants will produce photographs, or bring digital files from which they will make digital negatives. From these negatives Cyanotype and Van Dyke prints will be made.

The workshop costs €125 for two days.
All materials such as paper, chemicals and OHP film will be supplied.

Two day workshop delivered twice during the festival:
Workshop 1st weekend: 3rd and 4th of July
Workshop 2nd weekend: 10th and 11th of July
