Talk 11 Overview of Photography in France from the 1930s to the 1960s and the Photographie humaniste

Alliance Française Dublin
8th July, 5:30 pm

Nicolas Fève’s talk will begin with an overview of photography in France from the 1930s to the 1960s . Focus will particularly be on the Photographie humaniste, the photographic movement with which Pierre Jamet’s work is associated. From there we will have a closer look at his photographs of Belle-île en mer (an island off the coast of Brittany) and examine what is specific about his practice, both in terms of its socio-historic and its aesthetic aspects.
