Tools of the Trade
Tools of the Trade will be a show displaying analogue cameras and their respective images. The exhibition will include cameras from some of Ireland’s most respected creative photographers alongside new talent.
The participant photographers are: Cliona O’Flaherty, Yvette Monahan (studioseventyseven), Sean Breithaupt (studioseventyseven), Joanne Murphy, Mike O’Toole, Barry McCall, Marie Louise Halpenny, Kieran Harnett, Aoife Herrity, Linda Brownlee, Rich Gilligan, Emily Quinn, Jeannie O’Brien, Marc Doyle, Simon Devir, Ross Mc Donnell, Johnny Savage, Aidan Kelly, Niall O’Brien, Andreas Pettersson, Johnny McMillan, Christine Redmond, Siobhan Byrne, and Johnny Mcmillan
Cameras will be displayed on plinths with an image framed on the wall beside each relevant camera. All images will be accompanied with a brief story about the photographers’ camera and a short biography.
The exhibition will catalogue a time of analogue photography. Digital photography has changed the face of the industry so radically, we want to pay homage to film cameras before they are rendered obsolete.
The exhibition will act like a museum for analogue cameras. This will enable the participating photographers to express their passion for their Tools of the Trade and for the viewer to get and insight into the imagemaking proccess.
We are in the process of securing an internationally renowned photographer to open the exhibition and display one of his many cameras.
